Determining the MAC address (Windows)

All network-capable devices have a unique MAC address consisting of a twelve-digit combination of letters and numbers. The IT department needs the MAC address of your device for certain support tasks.
  1. If a Windows operating system is installed on the device, the current IP address can be determined from the Windows console. Press the Windows + R key to open the input window.
 
  1. Enter cmd and confirm by clicking OK or the Enter key to open the Windows console.
 
  1. In the Windows console, enter ipconfig -all and confirm with the Enter key.
 
  1. Now various information about all network adapters of the device are displayed. The MAC address you are looking for can be found under Physical address. Each network adapter has its own MAC address. The IT department usually needs the MAC address of the network adapter with which you are connected to the network (network cable or WLAN).
